I am not MN because Minnesota expects you to be from a white-norse country. I don't like that - I believe in diversity - and HATE the idea that you have to be a white, cassorole (or liking white foods), tall Norse-desent. Luthran, shy, untrusting of others. I don't think any of these assumptions are healthy - and in those terms - HELL NO.
I was born here - but never felt like it was a fit.

My mother is from New England and I've always visited there a lot and have deep roots there, so I feel partially a New Englander...and I lived in New York for 10 years and feel partially a New Yorker. I'd also echo what Abbi said, above, and add that I'm proud of MN's progressive history and fear that many of the things that have made me proud of MN are being eroded. (Though there's no comparison, in other ways, between the Twin Cities of today vs. of my childhood, re: diversity of people, cultural activities, food, etc. If we can continue that trend and hold on to what's made MN special in terms of quality of life and enlightened policies...I hope that's not too much to wish for.)
